Step into the studio with us to explore the story behind our newest font release, Monogram Meridian. Striking the perfect balance between clean geometric structure and refined elegance, this diamond-inspired font reimagines traditional monogramming for modern aesthetics. Whether you are assembling a classic 1-, 2-, or 3-letter monogram or building out a full name, Meridian offers endless potential for customization. We spoke with founder Pam Shuler for a behind-the-scenes look at her artistic process, from initial sketches to seeing customers bring the font to life in their projects.

"The small diamond details reminded me of compass points and map markings, which naturally led to the name Meridian."

What was the initial vision or spark behind creating Monogram Meridian?

We have had many requests for more 3-letter monogram styles. Having taught math and specifically Geometry in my earlier years, I was drawn to creating something with diamonds and beautiful architectural curves. The one strong central letter anchors the design and the surrounding initials create a wonderful symmetry on either side. The small diamond details reminded me of compass points and map markings, which led naturally to the name Meridian. I love that it feels architectural and structured, but still very elegant.

"I always like to start physically on paper with an H and an O, as most of the alphabet naturally flows from these two shapes. The H helps me map out the vertical lines and graceful curved legs, while the O sets the foundation for curved letters like B, C, and G. Once those core forms feel right, I move over to digital design to build out the rest."

There are 26 side letters, 26 center letters, and 5 frames included with this font. What was the most challenging letter or element to create?

The frames got me! There are endless directions you can go with a frame, so narrowing down the ideas was probably the hardest part. I looked back at some of the frames we’ve created for other Shuler Studio fonts for inspiration, and I also asked our graphic designer, Hannah, to dream up a few new ones. She created some beautiful options, and I love how much variety the five frames give the font.

"The letters are really pretty and elegant on their own. But adding the frames? That’s when you can really have fun with this font!"

"The frames open up so many possibilities for wonderful color combinations. You can keep it tonal and sophisticated or bring in contrasting colors to make the details really pop. I love that the exact same Meridian monogram can feel completely different simply by changing the frame and color palette."

When you picture Monogram Meridian out in the world, where do you most love seeing it used - on personal stationery, everyday home linens, or somewhere unexpected?

All the things! I love it on linens and stationery, but I think the unexpected applications are where Meridian could really shine. Because of its strong symmetry and architectural feel, it can almost become a design element rather than simply a monogram.
